Choose the name of the main GAP directory and create it:
export GAPDIR="$HOME/gapdir"
mkdir ${GAPDIR}
Install the necessary packages for building the system:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install build-essential autoconf libtool libgmp-dev libreadline-dev zlib1g-dev libzmq3-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev libcdd-dev
sudo apt install mc wget
Install GAP:
export GAPVERSION=4.12.2
cd /tmp
wget https://github.com/gap-system/gap/releases/download/v${GAPVERSION}/gap-${GAPVERSION}.tar.gz
tar -xzvf gap-${GAPVERSION}.tar.gz
rm -Rf ${GAPDIR}/*
mv /tmp/gap-${GAPVERSION}/* ${GAPDIR}
rm gap-${GAPVERSION}.tar.gz
cd ${GAPDIR}
./configure; make
Build the packages (this takes a few minutes):
cd ${GAPDIR}/pkg
../bin/BuildPackages.sh
more ./log/fail.log
You can start GAP by typing
${GAPDIR}/gap
Put the GAP directory in your search path:
export PATH=${PATH}:${GAPDIR}
Or, create a symbolic link or an alias
ln -s ${GAPDIR}/gap ${HOME}/gap
alias gap="${GAPDIR}/gap"
Download and extract:
cd ${GAPDIR}/pkg
wget https://github.com/gap-packages/RightQuasigroups/releases/download/v0.9.1/RightQuasigroups-0.9.1.tar.gz -O - | tar -xzv
Start GAP and type TestPackage("rightquasigroups"); You should get something like this:
